Pest Control

For Bird control,
Pigeon and Gull control

Pest birds can cause damage to buildings and serious health hazards without Proper Bird control. There are many scenarios and conditions that can lead to the deterioration of property and health such as:

  • Pigeons and bird nesting can damage roofs, eaves, chimneys, building structures and equipment such as building ventilation systems which can clog and not work efficiently.
  • Birds nesting may be responsible for serious health hazards by bringing parasites, spores, fleas and ticks into buildings.
  • Bird faeces contain corrosive matter (uric acid) and give unpleasant smells that can penetrate through ducts and ventilation devices.
  • When inhaled, the spores contained in pigeon and other bird faeces can cause diseases such as encephalitis or histoplasmosis, an incurable lung disease.

Nesting Control

Wild birds, their young, eggs and nests are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 with some birds (schedule 1) provided additional protection from disturbance. It is there for an offence to remove any birds nest without a licence. Offences under the act carry a maximum £5,000 fine and 6 month prison term.

The removal of birds eggs and nests is possible however only possible under licence. Pest Control NI are Irelands leading experts in wildlife management with 20 years experience managing these types of conflicts liaising with licencing authorities to obtain licences to carry out actions that would otherwise be prohibited.
